Cabo Fishing Calendar
The chart below comprehensively lays out the availability of the most commonly sought after fish species in the Cabo San Lucas area during each month of the year. Although there is quality offshore and light tackle sport-fishing available year ‘round, certain fish are more plentiful and/or active in the waters off Los Cabos at specific times of the year. If you are planning a fishing trip to Cabo San Lucas in order to catch a certain species, be sure to check the chart for monthly availability of your target species.
If you are interested in a Deep Sea fishing charter, rest assured that one of the two most prevalent Off Shore gamefish is usually in its peak season. The ever-popular Striped Marlin is most active in the area from January to July, while the Dorado, also known as Mahi Mahi or Dolphin Fish, begins to run well at the point when the Striped Marlin run slows a bit. Dorado tends to strike the lines hard from July through November. So no matter what time of year you visit Los Cabos, you are sure to have a great shot at landing either a Striped Marlin or a Dorado, depending on the time of year. Cabo San Lucas is known as the Striped Marlin Capital of the World. You’ll also find that you can find Light Tackle quarry in-shore around reefs throughout the year as well.
Although there are ideal seasons for different species, our experienced fishing guides will lead you to the best possible fishing grounds in the area for that particular time of year. The availability of certain game-fish may change according to the season, but the expertise of our captains in the local waters stays constant throughout the year.
